Appointments Information

Advice for competition and match organisers on how to arrange refereeing support for games.

Requests for Refereeing Support

To ensure the most efficient and effective use of scarce refereeing resources, appointments for the four associations that service metropolitan Sydney are coordinated centrally from the NSWRU Office. You’ll find details for each of those associations on the Other Associations page of this website.

Requests by match organisers, clubs and schools for refereeing support should be directed by email as soon as possible to the NSWRU Central Appointments Officer (CAO), Stuart Wright, (swright@nswrugby.com.au) Stuart (aka Noddy) can also be contacted by phone on 0422 532 961.

To assist the CAO in appointing referees with the required skills, knowledge, experience and fitness to handle your matches, your request should provide details such as the match date, venue, team names, kick off times, age groups and grades. Keep in mind that the more notice you’re able to provide, the better the chance that refereeing support will be available when and where you need it.

Referee and Referee Coach Appointments

To view details of specific referee and referee coach appointments, select the appropriate date from the Appointments menu. Any queries or anticipated difficulties in connection with refereeing assignments must be directed to Stuart Wright as soon as possible on the telephone number or email address shown above.

Important Reminder for Referees

Referees are reminded of the need to access the Referee Appointments System (RAS) as soon as possible after becoming aware of a matter that will impact on their availability for appointment. A procedural document titled “The Referee Appointments System” — available from the Resource Library page of this website — explains everything you need to know about RAS. The Referee Appointments System is accessed via the Rugby Portal. You’ll find a link to the Rugby Portal on the Links page of our website.
