About Sydney West Rugby Referees’ Association Inc.
The association was formed in December 2006 when members of two long established district referee associations—the Eastwood District RURA and the Parramatta District RURA—combined resources to create a new association. The Eastwood and Parramatta associations both came into existence in the early 1960s and provided refereeing services in the area now covered by Sydney West RRA.
Sydney West RRA is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation. The aims and objectives of Sydney West Rugby Referees’ Association Inc. (INC 9886803) are:
What areas do Sydney West Rugby Referees service?
Sydney West RRA members are regularly appointed to matches arranged by senior clubs, junior clubs, schools and other organising bodies at venues within the catchment areas of the Eastwood, Parramatta, Penrith and West Harbour Premiership Rugby Clubs.
By metropolitan standards, the region we service is immense. It includes the entire Western Sydney economic zone (Australia’s third largest and fastest growing economy, containing around 47% of Sydney’s total population) as well as suburbs in Sydney’s inner west and the rapidly expanding north western suburbs. The majority of Sydney West members are drawn from suburbs, universities, schools and work places across our region.
As a result of our focus on matches played on Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday in competitions organised by the NSW Suburban Rugby Union, the Sydney Junior Rugby Union and some of the major private schools, our jersey can be seen being worn proudly on playing fields across the Sydney metropolitan area.
